IT Management

Enterprise Continuity Planning
: Scenario: An employee hacked into the human resource records system at the employees place of business and changed the employees base salary rate to obtain a pay raise. The employee did this by spoofing an IP address in order to eavesdrop on the network. Once the employee identified where the data was stored and how to modify it, the employee made the changes and received two paychecks with the new amount. Fortunately, an auditor happened to discover the error. The auditor sent an e-mail to several individuals within the organization to let them know there was a potential problem with the employees paycheck. However, the employee was able to intercept the message and craft fake responses from the individuals the original e-mail was sent to. The employee and the auditor exchanged e-mails back and forth until the employee was soon given access permissions for some other financial records. With this new information, the employee was able to lower the salaries of the president of the company and several other employees and then to include the salary difference in the employees own paycheck. The IT staff determined that the spoofing that occurred that allowed the employee to gain access to the human resources system was caused by a lack of authentication and encryption controls. As such, a local root certificate authority was installed to implement a public key infrastructure (PKI) in which all communication to the human resource system required a certificate. This would encrypt network traffic to and from the human resources system and prevent eavesdropping. It would also properly authenticate the host to prevent spoofing. Task: A. Perform a postevent evaluation of how the organizations IT staff responded to the attack described in the scenario by doing the following: 1. Describe the series of malicious events that led up to the incident. 2. Identify who needs to be notified based on the type and severity of the incident. 3. Outline how the incident could be contained. 4. Discuss how the factor that caused the incident could be eradicated. 5. Discuss how the system could be recovered to return to normal business practice. a. Explain how the system could be verified as operational. B. Perform a follow-up of the postevent evaluation by doing the following: 1. Identify areas that were not addressed by the IT staffs response to the incident. 2. Identify the other attacks mentioned in the scenario that were not noticed by the organization. a. Describe the type and severity of the attacks not noticed by the organization. b. Describe how these additional attacks can be prevented in the future. 3. Recommend a recovery procedure to restore the computer systems back to a fully operational state. C. When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format. Note: When bulleted points are present in the task prompt, the level of detail or support called for in the rubric refers to those bulleted points. Note: For definitions of terms commonly used in the rubric, see the Rubric Terms web link included in the Evaluation Procedures section. Note: When using sources to support ideas and elements in a paper or project, the submission MUST include APA formatted in-text citations with a corresponding reference list for any direct quotes or paraphrasing. It is not necessary to list sources that were consulted if they have not been quoted or paraphrased in the text of the paper or project. Note: No more than a combined total of 30% of a submission can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. For tips on using APA style, please refer to the APA Handout web link included in the General Instructions section.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK): This framework demonstrates the combination of content expertise, information delivery expertise (pedagogy), and instructional technology implementation all used to enhance learning.

As explained in your textbook, TPACK combines pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge, and technological knowledge to transform learning opportunities into student-centered opportunities for lesson engagement, global connections, and web interfacing through 21st century technology advancements. The TPACK framework demonstrates the interplay of three knowledge bases:

  • Pedagogical Content Knowledge: This area is where most teachers have their foundation as a content expert who delivers knowledge using the foundations of pedagogy.
  • Technological Content Knowledge: This area includes making content more accessible and differentiated through technology including graphing calculators, online language translators, and virtual world tours.
  • Technological Pedagogical Knowledge: This area involves advanced learning processes through the use of technology that contribute to a wider variety of differentiated instructional opportunities including iPads that have text to speech programs, SMARTboard with text magnification, and online educational games that provide immediate feedback.

  • Identify the following aspects of your lesson plan:
    • Title: The title of your lesson.
    • Grade level and basic class demographics.
    • Anticipated Outcome (Lesson Objective): This must be measurable and written to align with the CCSS.
    • Common Core State Standard: This can be from your Unit Plan.
    • NETS-T standardPreview the documentView in a new window standard being met.
    • Content Summary: A brief description of what you will teach for this lesson and why.
    • Materials: Provide a list of materials needed for the lesson to include hyperlinks to any internet sites or books citations.
    • Summative Assessment: This should be a two- to three-sentence summary of how you will assess the lesson.
  • Your lesson plan must address each section of the TPACK using the provided lesson plan template (see sample herePreview the documentView in a new window):
    • Pedagogical Content Knowledge: Explain which teaching strategies best address the lesson’s content and concept. Be sure to include how the lesson uses multiple intelligences to promote critical thinking and problem solving in an engaging learning environment. You must also clearly explain how the Common Core State Standard (CCSS) aligns with this section.
    • Technological Content Knowledge: Explain how instructional technology will be used to compliment the lesson’s content. For example- a graphing calculator is used to check student’s algebra work or using spell check in a word document. You must also clearly explain how the CCSS and NETS standard(s) aligns with this section.
    • Technological Pedagogical Knowledge: Explain how the instructional technology device(s) included in your lesson enhance student learning and classroom organization (such as online attendance and grading). You must also clearly explain how the NETS standard(s) aligns with this section.
  • Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK):
    • Analyze how your lesson integrates Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), and Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) to fully address TPACK in the creation of an engaging lesson that differentiates instruction, makes global connections through 21st century technological advancements, encourages critical thinking, and demonstrates content area expertise. The analysis will be at least two pages.

The assignment should be a minimum of four pages in length, not including the title and reference pages, and must include reference to the course text and two additional resources (scholarly article or online resource). The assignment must be cited in proper APA format. A title and reference page must be included.

Literature Review Assignment

Please provide a standard cover sheet with the Assignment Name, your name, date, and class.       Most research projects include a literature review to determine what knowledge exists on the subject under study and to develop the theoretical framework that will be used in the study (this will be developed in week 5). The literature review sets the context for the entire research project by explaining what others have found in researching the same or similar specific research questions.        A literature review begins with an introductory paragraph in which the writer frames the research topic and its significance, and the puzzle that the researcher is addressing. To do that, the writer will summarize the major relevant arguments on the research subject, highlighting the main issues and how schools of thought might differ. If there are key terms to be defined, the writer should do that here.       The body of the literature review tells readers what others have found in their studies about your specific research question (the extent of existing knowledge on your specific research question), critiques what is right or wrong with these other studies, and discusses how the work is distinguishable from the research study you are proposing. Your review should organize material by theme or method or what makes sense for the project. This literature review should include a critical review of at least 10 appropriate articles, to include scholarly, peer-reviewed articles.    You should use parenthetical citations and include (Author last name, Date) in the text. When using a direct quote, cite (Author last name, Date, p. #). Please use “References” format for the complete citations at the end of the assignment.        The conclusion should summarize the primary “sense of the literature”, encapsulating for the reader where the existing literature ends and your research will start as you seek to answer the question that still remains and add to the body of knowledge.       Provide complete citations for the articles and sources you used in your literature review.        Use the filename (no spaces): yourlastname_wk4.doc to upload this file to the HW4 assignment.  The Week 4 Review of Literature Assignment is due Sunday of Week 4. The assignment must follow APA guidelines (parenthetical citations) and be free of typographical, spelling and grammatical errors. Compliance with the above directions, quality of your analysis, and the SSGS Assignment Rubric for 500-600 Level Classes will be used to evaluate this assignment.

Exercising Strategy

Review the “Exercising Strategy” exercise about Zappos on pages 57-58 of the text as well as the following web resources:

• Making Sense of Zappos and Holacracy

• Here’s What Happened to Zappos’ HR Boss When the Company Got Rid of Managers and Her Job Became Obsolete

Utilizing the material from Chapter 8 of the text (as well outside research you conduct), evaluate Zappos’ approach to performance management from a case study approach. Identify any problems or issues with Zappos’ HRM approach and propose different options or solutions.

Using this information, the Assignment Rubric and the additional resources listed below, develop a 3-5 page (not including title and reference pages) APA formatted evaluation.

Week 2 – Assignment Child Development Observation (Infant)

Each and every child is unique and complex. Although children develop at different rates, there are common stages of development that serve as guidelines for what most children can do by a certain age (Groark, McCarthy & Kirk, 2014). Observation is typically used as a tool to gain a better understanding of the stages of development. By observing children’s behavior, you can determine their current stage of development and formulate strategies based on these observations to best support your work. Chapters 4 and 5 of your textbook describe stages of physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development in children 0-12 months of age. Use the textbook in addition to the video provided with the instructions for this assignment as resources. This assignment supports your knowledge of child development stages, domains, and milestones, which you will use in your Week Five Final Paper. Instructions Read Chapters 4 and 5 from your textbook and view the Palsdaycare (2010) video below. As you watch the video, take notes about what you observe related to child development. Next, write a paper following the content and written communication expectations outlined below.
